Monday: Introduction to the Civil War
Short PowerPoint presentation on Civil War. Discussion on why we should learn about the Civil War. Hand out rubric for debate and PowerPoint presentations and explain the two projects. Certain students' will be broken up into groups for the PowerPoint presentation and the debate. The PowerPoint presentation is due Friday. Debate Monday.

Tuesday: Events Leading Up the the Civil War
PowerPoint and debate groups get assigned and create a flowchart using Inspiration on the events leading up to the Civil War.
Flowchart due by the end of class.
Discuss some events leading up to the War. Discuss how slavery was a part of the Civil War and how the slaves chose between the Union and Confederacy.

Wednesday: Battles of the Civil War
Discussion on specific major battles of the Civil War. Which battle was the costliest? Which battle had the most casualties?
Create a graph using Microsoft Word or Inspiration on the different battles of the Civil War, including the costs and the casualties that each battle held. Minimum of four battles. Due by the end of Thursday.
Use this link to track the battles of the Civil War and chose three battles to write a short essay on how the three battles you chose were crucial to either side gaining advantage in the War. Due first thing Friday. Civil War Battles

Watch video about Lincoln's Address. Discussion on why Lincoln presented the Address.
Groups continue to work on their assignments for the rest of the period. Early presenters for PowerPoint assignment can present.
Friday: Presentation Day
PowerPoint groups present their assignments, no exceptions for late presentations. No PowerPoint group can present Monday.
Early debate groups present.
Be prepared for a pop quiz Monday before the debate groups present.
